Educator Spotlight

La Toya Bond has been with MMSA since the doors first opened in 2009.  Wearing many hats as the Office Manager and the PR Associate, she always has a smile on her face for anyone that walks into the building.  The students gravitate toward her office for a pick me up or just to wave hello.  Make sure to stop by and get your dose of happiness from the mother of the school!

MMSA’s First Graduating Class!

There was no bad luck crossing our path on Friday the 13th of June, 2014.  Michigan Math and Science Academy held its first, senior, class graduation on Wayne State University’s campus.  At 5 O’clock in the evening, fourteen seniors dressed in royal blue caps and gowns took their march down the aisle and across the stage to become history makers. Our once, first, 8th grade class, five years ago, are now going into the college world ready to create new memories.  The Valedictorian and Salutatorian’s speeches kept the friends and families in tears as they read their speeches.  They remembered first setting foot into MMSA five years ago being unaware of the memories they would begin. Both young ladies mentioned the family-like relationship that was created among their peers and staff of MMSA.  As they set out into the adult world, the staff of MMSA wishes the class of 2014 much success!

Clubs/Tutoring starting soon!

Clubs are a great opportunity for students to expand his or her horizons.   Clubs help define interests and are a great way to build inter-personal skills. Clubs also provide the opportunity build social skills, get involved in community services and help execute school services.

Students will be bringing home schedules including grade specific information regarding after school activities and tutoring.  Clubs and Tutoring will start on September 22nd.  They are available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3;30-4:10.  Please look this list over with your child and encourage them to join a club!!
