Distinguished Guests and Visits

We pride ourselves on the various notable guests who not only visit our school, but become a part of the Michigan Math and Science Academy family. Distinguished visitors enjoy school tours lead by our very own student ambassadors and always look forward to coming back. See who’s visiting Michigan Math and Science Academy in our community.

The director of the Center Line Public Library, Heather Hames, visited MMSA with only one thing on her mind; BOOKS! She is the first community leader to visit the academy this semester to launch a new reading program designed for elementary students! She spent the afternoon reading story books to an engaged audience of K-2 graders! This was a special event because Mrs. Hames is also the mother of two MMSA’s students!

The 2nd graders spent their morning hour listening to Judge Viviano read The Emporer’s Peguin and The First Snow. It was wonderful to see the Judge interacting with the students and asking them questions. After the stories, all of the children agreed that making snowmen is the perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

On March 11, 2014 Mrs. Yildiz’ s 8th graders had a visitor at Character Education class. Mr. Paul Myszenski, Center Line Director of Public Safety talked to the students about being an effective leader in the community. Students enjoyed the conversation with Mr. Myszenski and asked him interesting questions about how to be a true leader and a productive citizen for the community

Matt Williams, Michigan Press Secretary for US Senator Debbie Stabenow, was given a glimpse into the technological future. A  group of students in Scientific Research and Design class presented Matt Williams with a science lesson using a solar powered robotic machine! Matt also read a storybook to a group of 3rd graders for our Community Readers’ Program. It was a pleasure having Matt Williams and we hope to have him return for a future event.
