- The 11th CONCEPT Science & Engineering Fair (CONSEF) was held on March 22, 2014 at Cleveland Convention Center. - The Science and Engineering Fair of Metropolitan Detroit, established in September 1956, is a nonprofit organization established to give students in the tri-county area (Wayne, Oakland, Macomb Counties) an opportunity to develop and exhibit science fair projects.Competition is separated into two group – Junior Division (which is 6th, 7th and 8th grade) and Senior Division (9th – 12th Grade. Students are judged within their respective categories (total of 13 categories based on scientific discipline)The 57th Science & Engineering Fair of Metropolitan Detroit (SEFMD) was held on March 12, 2014 at Cobo Center. Over 1,600 students from schools in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties competed at SEFMD, one of the longest running and largest science fairs in the world.

- Art students 5th through 12th grade at MMSA participated in the 11th Annual CONSEF Design Contest. In this competition students had to create a design the incorporated both science and engineering in a single image for the design contest. Casha Caldwell a 7th grade student at MMSA was in the top 7 honorable mentions. Ileana Bell a 9th grade student at MMSA was awarded 1st place out of hundreds of participants from all of Concepts Schools.
- MathCON took place on Saturday, May 10th at the University of Illinois at Chicago. MathCON is a math competition of two rounds open to all charter and public schools in 5th-12th grades spanning 7 states: First round, which is online is followed by an “on site”, paper based test in Chicago. Over 800 students from 80 different schools participated in the event. MMSA took 11 students to the event and did very well! Ali Al-Asadi took 2nd place overall in 6th grade and 9 other students received honorable mentions for placing in the top 30. As a team, middle school took 10th and high school took 6th place overall.
- On December 7, Roy H., Gio-Michael B., Bryan B., Rizwan H., Omar K., and Justin W. traveled to Chicago to compete with over 10 schools and over 300 students. At Concept School’s Annual Spelling Bee, held at the University of Illinois in Chicago, two of MMSA students battled to place as the top five spellers of the bee. Gio-Michael (4) placed 2nd in the 3rd through 5th grade level and Justin (8) placed 5th in the 6th through 8th grade level. These students battled among 300 plus students.
